Henderson Community Foundation announces a $5,000 competitive, non-specific grant.

Applications due: Monday, December 9, 2013

Henderson, NV – The Henderson Community Foundation (HCF), a charitable foundation that has been named one of the three finalist for the 2013 Non-Profit “Business on the Rise Award” by the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, connects people who care with causes that matter, announces the availability of a competitive grant of up to $5,000 for a non-specific purpose with the intent of expanding the capacity of the nonprofit organization in serving the community of Henderson.

James Green, HCF Board President pointed out that, “ Our community non-profit organizations are the backbone of the city of Henderson.  While we are experiencing the early stages of an economic recovery, many of our residents continue to struggle. It is the intention of the Henderson Community Foundation to seek applications in support of ongoing initiatives that target gaps in service, while strengthening our community and its reach.”

The HCF Non-Specific Grant has an award period of January 1, 2014 to June 30, 2014. Organizations eligible for the grant must be based in Henderson or serve the Henderson community.  They must also qualify as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS tax code and attest to non-discrimination on the basis of race, sex, age, national origin, religion, mental handicap, veteran status or sexual orientation.  Applications must be submitted to HCF no later than Monday, December 9, 2013.

Henderson Community Foundation was the Henderson Chamber’s Leadership Henderson (LH) Class of 2002’s class project.  HCF prides itself on the value it places on every member of the community – regardless of socio-economic status, background or position. Whether you are a Henderson resident who wants to help someone in need, a person of means who wants to leave a lasting legacy, or represent a nonprofit in need of financial support, HCF values every individual and the contribution they make in our community.  HCF works to solve problems with high impact and thoughtful philanthropy, by opening the door for people to come together to address pressing issues, share creative ideas and develop innovative programs. In short, HCF builds the community it serves by connecting people and resources to build a vision for a better tomorrow.

Each year, HCF undertakes a competitive grant process resulting in over $47,000 awarded to other, local nonprofits based on the critical needs of our community.  Additionally, HCF provides its 501(c)3 status, and manages and administers over $750,000 of its partner funds to do amazing things in our Henderson community.  Since its inception, HCF has been a vehicle for more than $100,000,000 in charitable giving.
