Mary Colleen O’Callaghan-Miele, Trustee

Headsup Guidance and Wellness Centers of Nevada

Mary Colleen O’Callaghan-Miele is the Founder, President/CEO of HeadsUp Guidance and Wellness Centers of Nevada. Colleen is currently focused on assisting individuals and families as a Master Clinical Hypnotherapist, Trainer, and Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programmer (NLP) and Mental Emotional Release Therapy (MERT). Colleen has reached Level 4 in the ancient Hawaiian empowerment techniques of Huna and has studied extensively at Kona University.

A native of Nevada, Colleen worked for over a decade in the medical field, illustrating her passion for helping others. At age 16, while working at The Carson City Convalescent Hospital, she received her nursing assistant certification (CNA). After then being certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), she worked with the Carson and Washoe County Ambulance Company, ultimately attending Western Nevada Community College’s nursing program. Colleen then went on to become a certified phlebotomist and IV technician and Nevada’s first state certified pathology assistant under the direction of Dr. James W. Decker, chief pathologist and founder of Sierra Nevada Laboratory.

For many years, Colleen was a very recognizable presence in the community as vice president, co-publisher and owner of the family newspapers. Her columns inspired many to take action in their own lives. With the unforeseen death of her parents in the same year, the late Honorable Governor Mike and First Lady Carolyn O’Callaghan, Colleen redirected her efforts to assisting others through the utilization of integrated mental and emotional health.

In the spring of 2008, in collaboration with the City of Las Vegas Housing Authority, Colleen set the foundation that would ultimately become what are now HeadsUp Guidance and Wellness Centers of Nevada. Since opening in October 2008, HeadsUp has served over 8000 clients, many from lower socioeconomic demographics and has helped those clients and their families live lives of greater peace and functionality.

Following in the footsteps of her parents, Colleen and her family are committed to serving Nevada and her citizens.

Colleen serves the clients of HeadsUp in many ways, specializing in mental and emotional release sessions, NLP and hypnotherapy. Her documented results are being presented at The American Psychiatric Congress November 2011. Colleen is a certified member in good standing with the Association for Integrated Psychology as a Master Clinical Hypnotherapist, Master Practitioner and Trainer of a number of healing arts. Colleen creates environments of safety and nurturance where deep and long lasting healing takes place.

Colleen is a 2003 graduate of Leadership Henderson. She is active in the community supporting the development of the Nevada Cancer Institute, a proud Lion of Juda and member of the Las Vegas Jewish Federation and serves on the board of directors for Henderson Community Foundation. Colleen has also served on the United Way Women’s Leadership as well as Black Mountain Community Bank, Henderson Senior Alliance Board, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, Las Vantanas Adult Living Care, Southern Nevada Medical Industry Coalition, and the Henderson Emergency Medical Board.
