Professional Biography:
Gerri Schroder was elected at large to the Henderson City Council in April 2007 and re-elected in April 2011, representing Ward I. Councilwoman Schroder serves with the Mayor and fellow council members as the legislative branch of the Henderson community, responsible for setting policies and making decisions concerning many different aspects of local government. The City Council also approves the city’s budget.

Gerri was named Mayor pro tempore in July 2014. In addition to serving on the city Ethics Committee, the Mayor pro tempore performs the duties of Mayor during the absence or disability of the Mayor.

As Councilwoman, Gerri represents the city on the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition, Workforce Connections and the Clark County School District Oversight Committee on School Facilities. She serves as the council representative on the City of Henderson Cultural Arts and Tourism Commission and is a member of the Henderson Development Association and the Henderson Redevelopment Agency. Gerri also serves on the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board Manufacturing Sector Council and the Mining and Materials Sector Council.

Gerri was appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2015 Community and Economic Development Steering Committee where she will assist in the development of NLC federal policy positions on issues involving housing, community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation and international competitiveness. She previously served on the NLC’s First Tier Suburbs Council and Policy and Advocacy Committee on Economic Development.
She received the Distinguished Endeavor Award for Government in 2014 from Distinguished Women in Nevada. In 2008, Gerri was named Elected Official of the Year by the Asian Chamber of Commerce and in 2011 she received the Public Official of the Year award from the Japan America Society of Nevada.

Active in civic affairs, Gerri currently serves as a member of the board of directors of the Foundation for Positively Kids, JYD Project, Las Vegas Urban League, McCaw School of Mines, Metro Arts Council, Nevada State College Diversity Council, OCA Las Vegas Chapter and S.A.F.E. House, Inc. She is also a member of the Japan America Society of Nevada as well as the Henderson, Las Vegas Metro, Asian and Urban Chambers of Commerce.
